Many New Brunswickers who headed to Hopewell Rocks over the weekend, caught their first glimpse of what is left of Elephant Rock.
It was the rock formation that crumbled in March of this year.
Manager of Admissions and Group Tours Annick Robichaud-Butland says it was disappointing, but it means new sights for the visitors, “What happened when Elephant Rock fell, it split in half, so instead of 17 rock formations, we now have 18. We don’t have any names for them yet. So we’re love to hear some feedback and some new names. We have our social media active, and we’re on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.”
She says every two to three years they see a rock fall happen, due to the rising and falling waters at the Rocks, “This one caught a lot of eyes and ears because it was the well known Elephant rock, but we haven’t altered it at all. We let Mother Nature do her thing, and the rock crumble is still there, so we just walk around that.”
It was a busy long weekend at the Rocks. The popular tourists attraction officially opened on Friday.
