New ambulances will soon be hitting the streets and highways of New Brunswick.
Ambulance New Brunswick fleet manager Danny Bulmer says Ford announced three years ago it would stop making the E-350 model, so a change to a Dodge Ram Promaster became necessary.
Since then, paramedics along with health department officials and a team from Malley Industries in Dieppe have been working together to create a leading edge vehicle.
The new ambulance was designed to enhance safety and comfort, improve access to patients and equipment and to optimize the interior space.
As one vehicle lease ends and is returned to the manufacturer, it will be replaced by the next generation ambulance.
