JD Irving awarding five Saint John companies with contracts valued at more than $640,000 for work on the pulp mill modernization.
Mary Keith says the project involves investing in a new digester and wood chip handling and screening technology.
She says all together it’s over 600,000 person hours for local contracters adding they are on track to finish next year.
Keith says there will be a benefit to their West side neighbours with a reduction in noise and air emissions resulting from this project.
