Summertime is coming and that means the Market Square boardwalk is about to become a Saint John event hub once again.
There are going to be free daily events on the boardwalk no matter what the weather starting on June 21 and running until the day before the Labour Day weekend. With the East Coast Music Awards returning to Saint John next year for the first time in 15 years Mondays this summer are ECMA Mondays.
“We wanna make sure that people are really excited about what they can expect so we’ll be delivering East Coast Music members that will be performing on the stage each Monday.” says Stephany Peterson of the Hardman Group. “Just as a little taste of what we can expect as we’re already in preparations for what’s going to happen next April.”
The 26th anniversary of the Buskers on the Bay Festival is happening from July 13-17, the East Coast Games is happening on June 25, National Aboriginal Day is on June 21 and the fourth annual Poutinerie Challenge is happening on June 24.
The Canada Day Countdown performers for this year include: Kid Koala, Dear Rouge, Yukon Blonde, Plants & Animals, David Myles and FM Berlin.
“The entertainment that happens here for Canada Day Countdown on the Market Square boardwalk stage is a great feature and a great highlight that we’ve been able to deliver for 12 years now,” says Peterson.
There will also be a midnight pyrotechnics show, a night artisan market, life-sized board games and more. On Canada Day itself there are a slew of events capped off by the fireworks grand finale at dusk.
