Around 115 Loblaw’s stores in Atlantic Canada were closed for several hours this morning.
A computer glitch overnight affected the tills making it impossible to ring through and pay for items.
Atlantic Director of Corporate Affairs, Mark Boudreau, says this is the first time something like this has happened here.
“We’ve, of course, had power outages as a result of weather and storms or that sort of thing,” he says, “but, this the first I’ve heard of anything happening, sort of, system wide in the Atlantic Region.”
The company was able to get the system back online at around 10 a.m.
All stores have now re-opened but Boudreau says they’re continuing to investigate the origin of the problem.
