2015 was a record breaking year for passenger traffic through Saint John Airport with the number of passengers exceeding a quarter of a million for the first time ever.
Interim Airport President and C-E-O Angela McLean says the brutal winter of 2015 played a part with an increasing number of people deciding to escape the cold and record breaking snowfall by flying a Sunwing charter down South.
McLean says harmonised fares by Air Canada eliminated the need of people to travel to other airports in the province for cheaper fares and the U.S. exchange rate made flying out of Bangor less attractive.
She also reports Air Canada is adding a fourth daily flight between Saint John and Toronto from the beginning of June until the end of August.
