The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure in the province saw an increase in its operational budget for 2015-2016.
It rose by $23.5 million over the last fiscal year.
Minister Roger Melanson says in this almost $297 million budget, the government continues to provide more funding for highways and bridges, as well as winter maintenance.
Melanson says over $8 million additional dollars will be invested in winter maintenance to assist with the harsher winters the province has been having.
The department is also looking at savings by eliminating free parking for elected officials and government employees in urban centres.
