Reinstatement of the long form census by the Trudeau Government is being welcomed by the Executive-Director of the Saint John Human Development Council.
Randy Hatfield says getting as much information as possible is vital to knowing what needs to be done in Saint John. Hatfield says getting as much information as possible on the neighbourhood level will give a better picture of how vulnerable and marginalised many people in the city are.
He adds region wide data really doesn’t give an accurate picture of what life’s like in Saint John, especially in the priority neighbourhoods.
Hatfield says the business community has known for years unless you can accurately measure something, you can’t manage it and if you can’t manage it, it doesn’t get done.
