Big plans for construction of a fertiliser plant in the McAllister Industrial Park by Atlantic Potash rolled out at an open house for all to see.
Atlantic Potash C-E-O Keith Attoe acknowledges there are safety concerns with a fertiliser plant but this operation will be less risky by using ammonium nitrate in a concentration with water.
Attoe is hoping construction will begin in 2017. He estimates it will employ up to 350 workers when all the phases of the project are complete.
The project is undergoing an environmental impact assessment and there will also be a risk assessment done.
Common Councillor Ray Strowbridge likes what he sees. Strowbridge estimates the tax revenue for the city would amount 4 million dollars a year and he has been told the jobs will pay 50 thousand dollars a year each.
