A Youth Centre will be opening up in the Kennebecasis Valley next May but we still don’t know yet exactly where. Negotiations are ongoing.
A million dollar fundraising campaign will be launched next month. The Greater Saint John Community Foundation has given the youth centre its Anniversary Grant of 40 thousand dollars.
Executive Director Yennah Hurley says their stats show there’s a need with 25 per cent of students in middle school, high school and university are suffering from some form of anxiety and depression.
Hurley says the youth centre will have a family doctor, sexual health nurse, counsellors and psychiatrist on site but it’s also a place for young people to just hang out.
