The Provincial Health Department is collaborating with the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency regarding the recall of a food product linked to a hepatitis A outbreak.
Costco is offering immunization to customers who consumed the recalled frozen fruit product, Nature’s Touch Organic Berry Cherry Blend within the last 14 days at their Saint John, Fredericton and Moncton locations. It was sold exclusively by Costco.
To date, no cases have been reported in New Brunswick. However, there are 13 cases in three other provinces and five people have been hospitalized.
Dr. Jennifer Russell, acting chief medical officer of health, says the overall risk to New Brunswickers is low.
