Just because you’re disabled, doesn’t mean you can’t accomplish a lot in life. That’s the message from Kaitlyn Layden who suffers from cerebral palsy and general anxiety disorder.
Layden moved to Saint John from Hampton. She has undergone something like 16 operations but despite all that, is running a successful small business. Her business, Layden’s Umbrella Services, produces customised calenders, photo albums, greeting cards and other keepsakes. She has her own website, www.layden.ca and tells us the business is going well.
Layden wants to become an advocate for the disabled, saying she can speak up for yourself but others, especially people with intellectual disabilities can’t.
One issue that bothers her is the two year waiting list for accessible apartments for the disabled in the Saint John area.
