Marissa Shephard is fit to stand trial in the violent death of 18-year old Baylee Wylie.
That comes after a 30 day psychiatric assessment was completed.
Baylee Wylie’s mother Amanda is relieved.
“I’m very happy, I was really worried but now I’m relieved,” says Amanda Wylie. “It’s important that she’s brought to justice for what happened to Baylee.”
The case is adjourned until June 3rd, so the Defense has more time to review evidence.
Meanwhile, Shephard’s best friend Taylor Lutes says the doctors made the wrong decision.
She says Shephard wasn’t fit even before the murder happened.
“With the drugs that she had, with the problems that she had she was never really stable enough to stand fit trial for anything let alone murder and arson,” says Lutes.
She says Shephard is currently sober, and doing relatively well in prison.
She adds she hasn’t given up hope on her best friend and will continue to support her 100%.
