Two people are dead after a head-on crash on Highway 15 in Moncton, according to RCMP.
A 32-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man, both from Moncton, were taken to the hospital but later died from their injuries.
The crash happened on Route 15 westbound, past the Harrisville Boulevard/Dieppe Boulevard overpass, around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Capt. Serge Boudreau with the Moncton Fire Department said two of the three vehicles had people trapped inside.
Boudreau said five people were taken to the hospital, including three in critical condition and one in serious condition.
The fifth patient appeared to have minor injuries, Boudreau said in an interview with our newsroom.
Route 15 westbound was closed between the Harrisville Boulevard/Dieppe Boulevard overpass and the Main Street traffic circle until around 4 a.m. on Monday.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
