Two men have been charged after attempting to flee police.
RCMP attempted to stop a vehicle on Route 1 in Oak Bay at around 1:50 am on December 10.
The driver tried to elude police by doing a U-turn into oncoming traffic.
Officers laid a tire deflation device, but the vehicle continued at a low rate of speed.
It finally came to a stop on Loop Road in Upper Mills.
A 40-year-old Hartland man and a 26-year-old St. Stephen man were arrested.
The driver is facing charges of:
- Resisting arrest
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Careless use of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of firearm
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Possession of property obtained by crime overĀ $5000
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Weapons possession contrary to an order and failure to surrender authorization
- Failure to comply with a probation order
- Driving motor vehicle while being prohibited
- Flight from police
A passenger is charged with:
- Careless use of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of firearm
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Possession of property obtained by crime overĀ $5000
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Weapons possession contrary to an order and failure to surrender authorization
- Failure to comply with a probation order
- Assault of a police officer with a weapon
Both will return to court at a later date.
