RCMP say a man wanted in connection with an assault and two break-ins and thefts in Hanwell has been arrested.
The 26-year-old McAdam man was taken into custody on Nov. 23, police said in an update on Wednesday.
RCMP responded to a break-in and theft in progress at a business on Timothy Avenue in Hanwell on Nov. 18.
They were made aware of a second break-in and theft in progress nearby when they arrived. The suspect was spotted loading stolen property into a U-Haul.
The man jumped in the driver’s seat of the U-Haul and reportedly struck a police cruiser, and had previously attempted to hit a responding security guard’s car at the first break-in
The U-Haul was followed southbound on Highway 3, where police tried to deploy a tire-deflating device. Police said an officer suffered minor injuries after being forced to jump into the ditch to avoid being struck.
It was also learned that gas was stolen from a business in Ripples earlier in the day.
While the suspect is still in custody, police are still looking for the U-Haul. The 15-foot truck has possible front-end damageĀ and Arizona licence plate AG66559.
