A Love Story to go down in the books.
Memories are a bit hazy now for a Nova Scotia couple, who had the experience of a lifetime, when they got engaged at Taylor Swift’s Era’s Tour in Toronto.
It happened on night one during the song, Lover, when Taylor Evans got down on one knee and proposed to Nicole McPhee surrounded by nearly 50,000 screaming Swifties.
Nicole tells us, even to just be able to hear the song in concert together, had a special meaning.
“Lover has been our song for the whole time that we’ve been dating. So, you know, we were just so obsessed to even go and be able to see her and experience that live.”
That was why, at that moment, she got a bit confused when he seemed distracted.
“We’re sitting there, we’re playing together and singing the song…and I look over and he’s talking to someone next to him. I was like…’Ok…what are you doing?'”
“He was asking her to push over so that he could get down on one knee. He then pulled out the ring and the rest is kind of a blur.”
Their journey
The Sydney couple say it was during COVID when they discovered they were both superfans.
Nothing was open and Taylor says, they were part of each other’s bubbles.
“On our first date, we drove around, and Nicole decided to throw on Taylor Swift. I said I was a huge Taylor Swift fan. She didn’t believe me until I started to sing along to every song and knowing more lyrics than her.”
Then, he says, it’s just been “everything” ever since.
Swiftie themed wedding
Taylor and Nicole shared a fresh idea they have for their upcoming nuptials.
“Our wedding party…our groomsmen and our bridesmaids…will be wearing friendship bracelets.”
Friendship bracelets are a big thing at Taylor Swift concerts.
The accessories are in a lyric in You’re on Your Own, Kid and now, not only get worn but traded at her live shows.
Taylor Swift has six concerts in Toronto at the Rogers Centre, three last week and three this week- they are all sold out.
