The Saint John chapter of Sleep In Heavenly Peace built 12 beds for children in need at its first monthly build day in June.
Al MacNeil, the build manager for the chapter, said the beds will be donated to newcomer families and those struggling financially.
“They come with mattresses, pillows, sheets and everything. The donations go towards buying wood to make the beds and the bedding itself,” said MacNeil.
It costs up to $400 to produce one bed, according to MacNeil. The next build day is scheduled for later in July in Grand Bay-Westfield.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace welcomes all skill levels, with jobs for everyone, supported by a trained team of volunteers to guide you.
Saint John is the only Canadian chapter east of Ontario. The non-profit has also expanded to the United States, Bermuda, and the Bahamas.
