The Kennebecasis Regional Police Force has launched a cadet sponsorship program for anyone wanting to become a police officer.
Applicants will be selected to attend the Atlantic Police Academy in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, this coming July.
The sponsored cadets will be guaranteed employment with the police force once they have graduated from the academy.
“It’s never dull here. If you’re somebody who really wants to serve and connect in your community, it’s an incredible career to allow you to engage in all aspects of the community’s dealing with all ages and stages of life,” said Laurie Young, human resources manager for the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force.
“This police force is really connected to the communities that we serve. We serve Rothesay and Quispamsis and are embedded as an integral part of the community, so you’ll see officers in schools, you’ll see them in senior homes.
“Certainly, there are enforcement activities that go on but there is a lot more to it in this community-based policing model that we follow.”
Young said there are some requirements needed to apply, which include having Canadian residency and being 19 or older.
An information session will take place at the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force headquarters on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m.
