A southeastern New Brunswick man has been sentenced to five years in prison for drug trafficking.
Jean-Francois Ferron of Sainte-Anne-de-Kent pleaded guilty to six drug trafficking charges and three firearm-related charges.
The charges against the 45-year-old stemmed from two drug trafficking investigations in Saint-Anne-de-Kent and Aldouane.
Officers executed a search warrant at a home on Grattan Road in Sainte-Anne-de-Kent in March 2022.
They seized quantities of cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine pills, oxycodone pills, hydromorphone pills and a number of assorted prescription pills.
Police also seized a loaded and unsecured firearm in plain sight, a replica handgun, money and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
Mounties arrested Ferron, along with two other people. All three were released to attend court at a later date.
Then in April 2023, police searched a residence in Sainte-Anne-de-Kent and a home in Aldouane in connection with a separate drug trafficking investigation.
During the searches, they seized quantities of cocaine, crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine pills, fentanyl, hydromorphone pills, oxycodone pills and other drugs, along with drug trafficking paraphernalia and money.
Ferron was arrested at the scene, along with three other people. Ferron was one of two people held in custody while the other two were released with future court dates.
On Oct. 26, Ferron pleaded guilty to the nine charges he was facing and was sentenced to five years in prison, minus time served.
He will also face a lifetime weapons prohibition and will be ordered to submit a DNA sample.
