The defending Memorial Cup champions are back on the ice.
Training camp begins this week for the Saint John Sea Dogs.
More than 50 players will take part in this year’s camp, however, it was a short off-season, and some of the returning players have only been off for around five weeks.
“So, it was a really quick turn around, and we’re holding back a lot of our veterans that won the Memorial Cup, and they will come back after a few more weeks,” mentioned Trevor Georgie, president and GM for the Sea Dogs.
Georgie mentioned training camp is a chance for the coaching staff, and the front office to witness a lot new faces.
“As well as see a lot of fresh energy and excited in the group with guys we’ve been following, watching their careers develop in other leagues, and now is their opportunity to grab a spot on the Sea Dogs.”
On Thursday, the Sea Dogs will play their first pre-season game against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
All of their pre-season home games will take place at the Aitken Centre in Fredericton.
