There is now a simpler way for Ukrainian newcomers to obtain a New Brunswick driver’s licence.
The province is now offering an exchange program for Ukrainian newcomers with a driver’s licence from that country, which will make it easier for them to receive a Class 5 passenger vehicle licence in New Brunswick.
“This is good news for all newcomers from Ukraine,” reads a quote in a release from Public Safety Minister Bill Hogan.
“This will definitely help us create a welcoming environment and improve settlement services for newcomers in New Brunswick,” added Hogan.
Applicants must provide the necessary identification and address documents, pay a fee of $90, and test their vision while at a Service New Brunswick office, however, they will be exempt from knowledge and road tests.
Newcomers who have started the testing process may need to continue, depending on their results.
Drivers with under two years of experience will be subject to graduated driver’s licence rules.
