Just before 5 p.m. on Saturday, the Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department responded to a structure fire.
It occurred in Quispamsis off of Yandall Drive, and officials mentioned when crews arrived there was heavy fire and flames coming out of the front window.
Crews put out the fire within half an hour and remained on scene until 11 p.m.
The family was able to get out of the building safely, however, they will not be able to return for quite some time, and are currently staying with other family members.
The Canadian Red Cross has been notified if the family needs assistance.
In a news release Monday, the Red Cross said two people were displaced by the fire.
“The two adults are staying with relatives for now and were helped by Canadian Red Cross volunteers with emergency funding for purchases of clothing and some other basics,” said the release.
The Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department did request mutual aid for truck tankers from Nauwigewauk, Hampton, and Long Reach Fire Departments.
Officials say the fire is not suspicious at this time, however, a fire investigation is currently underway.
