Police in southern New Brunswick are warning residents about a scam involving social insurance numbers.
The Saint John Police Force and the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force issued warnings this week.
They said residents have been receiving calls from people claiming to be from the Canada Revenue Agency.
They are told their social insurance number has been used to commit offences and they could be arrested.
Police said you should never give your SIN — or any personal info — to someone who has called you as caller IDs can be masked.
If you are contacted by someone claiming to be from CRA and are unsure, police said you should hang up and call them directly.
