Port Saint John has been welcoming thousands to Community Day for almost a decade.
At the 9th edition on Sunday, attendees can enjoy a variety of free activities and learn about the inner workings of the port.
Events range from bouncy castles to a tugboat water display on the harbour.
Port Saint John CEO Jim Quinn says it works on two fronts with events for kids and their parents.
“We have all kinds of things for the kids to do and things to learn and have fun but, we also have informative things for the parents and adults. It gives them a chance to kind of get a better understanding of what goes on in this port and the partners who are involved in this port.” Quinn said.
Going to be a good show on Sunday @PortSaintJohn Community Day. Our @jdirvinglimited Atlantic Towing tugs will be doing a water display at 1:00pm. Did you know our tugs can shoot 634,000 gallons of water an hour! #SJPortdays pic.twitter.com/72TlHW2jgz

Quinn says people appreciate having something they can bring their kids to on a Sunday.
“If you think about where we are situated, we are surrounded by priority neighbourhoods so we want to do this in a way that is a minimal cost if any cost for families,” Quinn said.
ACAP Saint John will have special glasses to help people watch harbour seals on Partridge Island from the roof of the Diamond Jubilee cruise ship terminal.
The 9th annual Community Day at Port Saint John starts at 11 a.m. on Sunday at the cruise ship terminals on Water Street.
