More than $599,000 raised in six years for 25 local charities.
That is the accomplishment of the 100 Women Who Care of Greater Saint John who voted to support L’Arche Saint John with $24,000 on Tuesday night.
L’Arche Saint John supports people with and without intellectual disabilities.
Founder Debbie Rathwell said they will use the funding to create a new gathering place.
“They are wanting to build a centre for the evenings. For people to get together and communicate and have fun and share and build these communities,” Rathwell said.

Rathwell said since the group’s first meeting on June 4th, 2013 they have always maintained at least 225 members.
“It really speaks to the commitment and passion of the women in greater Saint John to give back and help our neighbours who are less fortunate,” Rathwell said.
Kiwanis charities of Saint John and the Lily Lake Pavilion are the other two charities who made pitches before the group on Tuesday night.
