The Governor General of Canada, Julie Payette, making a short stop in Rothesay on Friday to offer support for those impacted by flooding.
Payette along with Premier Blaine Higgs and members of the military arrived by helicopter.
While giving a short speech with Premier Higgs and Rothesay Mayor Nancy Grant at the town’s sandbagging operation, Payette said thank you to those who has helped in the flood response.

“We were here to show solidarity, it is spring, it is the river community but also to say, ‘kudos to you guys’ for working together. The military, the government officials, the emergency services, the community, the students. Thank you. Everybody that volunteered at some point did something for the community.” Payette said.
Payette also greeted soldiers and posed for pictures with students.
