Dekany says they are new hazards under the water this year including garbage and other debris.
“It’s all placed in different areas than it was last year. A log that wasn’t there last year will be there now.
Everything just sits under the water so you have to be so careful.” Dekany said.
When asked what he learned from last year’s flood, Dekany says he learned to respect the currents.
Dekany will be joined by a film crew from the Nature of Things on Wednesday.
He got several emails last year about the idea which he thought was a joke.
It was not a joke and Dekany will be taking the film crew to Darlings Island and to the Fredericton area.
“I invited them into my home so they can stay with me and always be right on the water. I’m still blown away that they are coming.” Dekany said.
He thinks being featured on The Nature of Things will show others that New Brunswick is dealing with just as much as anywhere else.
“It will show how strong our community actually is, how we all put together and we can face anything Mother Nature can throw at us,” Dekany said.
