Frederictonians are getting a new police chief and they already know him.
The former top boss of the New Brunswick RCMP Roger Brown has been recommended to replace outgoing Fredericton Police Chief Leanne Fitch.
He feels very fortunate to have been afforded this unique leadership opportunity.
Brown has 36 years in policing with the RCMP where he started out as a constable in Rivière-du-Loup before retiring in 2016.

Mayor Mike O’Brien says he is confident Brown is bringing the right combination of skills and experience to lead the talented men and women at the Fredericton Police Force.
Brown helped the New Brunswick RCMP through the shooting of three mounties in Moncton in June 2014 and he’s poised to take the helm of a police force in mourning after last August’s shooting where four people died including two Fredericton police officers.
Chief Fitch retires on June 10th and Roger Brown will take over on June 11th on a three-year renewable appointment.
