A proposed cannabis processing facility in west Saint John has been given the final stamp of approval by city council.
Toronto-based Nuuvera Corp. applied to the city to rezone the former T4G building on Lancaster Avenue.
Cannabis buds will be trucked in and turned into oil before being shipped out to domestic and overseas markets.
Nearby residents have expressed concern about this type of operation being in a residential neighbourhood, so council approved several extra conditions.
Only a cannabis processing facility will be allowed in the building and any expansions will need council approval.
Council also approved operating hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., despite warnings from city staff against doing that.
Nuuvera Corp. says between 15 and 25 people will work at the facility.
