The new Provincial Land Registry office is officially open in St. Stephen.
MLA for St. Croix, Tourism Minister John Ames was on hand for the announcement on King Street. The new office is housed on the second floor of the former Courthouse.
“The consolidation of the land registry offices into one provincial office, here in St. Stephen, not only created six full-time positions in our town, but it also showed how technology and innovation is making government not only more efficient, but allowing provincial offices to be located right here in St. Stephen.”
Ames says 97 % of users are lawyers and land surveyors. It was also announced, as of May 22nd, lawyers and land surveyors now have the ability to file almost all legal documents and plans online.
He says the ability to file these documents electronically is more convenient, efficient, and long overdue.
