The New Brunswick Police Commission will review the involvement of Saint John police in the recent jury selection process for Dennis Oland’s murder trial.
A mistrial was declared last week after it was learned an officer screened prospective jurors using the force’s internal database, despite the practice being condemned by the Supreme Court of Canada.
The Saint John Board of Police Commissioners asked the provincial commission to investigate the officer’s actions.
In a statement, the provincial commission says it will do just that — once all criminal proceedings in the Oland matter are complete.
Oland’s defence team also wants the commission to resume its previous probe into the police force’s handling of Richard Oland’s murder.
