90 per cent of high school students in the Maritimes say they intend to seek higher education.
Their number one choice, according to the Maritime Higher Education Commission, is to go to university.
When asked about being able to find a job close to home, the students are pessimistic. Only 14% say they expect to be able find a fulltime job in their hometown.
When asked in May of last year about their future plans, 71 percent of grade 12 students in this region said they intended to be enrolled in a postsecondary institution in the Fall. An additional 21% said they would likely do so over the next five years.
