Economic Development Greater Saint John has a vision for the future.
The economic development agency, formerly known as Enterprise Saint John, has released a three-year plan with ambitious targets like increasing employment 2.5 per cent each year.
CEO Ron Gaudet says this plan was created with a lot of help, noting he and board chair Andrew Oland spent two months speaking to industry and asking what keeps them up at night.
“We then held five focus groups with mayors and councils, staff and boards, citizens and stakeholder groups like Port Saint John and the Saint John Airport,” said Gaudet. “We overlayed that with some research to really understand where we are with the economy and out of that we created a three-year plan.”

Gaudet said Saint John has a budding start-up culture with 71 companies going through an entrepreneurial program and he thinks we need more of that.
