On Day 25 of the Dennis Oland second-degree murder trial, the 2015 testimony of a forensic video analyst played in court.
Grant Fredericks is considered an expert after testifying hundreds of times in Canada on this subject and he also works as a consultant for the U.S. department of justice.
The Saint John Police first contacted Fredericks in March of 2012 asking him to compare known clothing belonging to Dennis Oland to clothing he can seen wearing in security videos.
Fredericks says he was first contacted by the Saint John Police in March 2012 and asked to compare known clothing to clothing in a video.

Fredericks was given various security video and a dozen photos of the clothing belonging to Oland.
He examined video from July 6th 2011 taken in Brunswick House where Dennis Oland can be seen in line at the Tim Horton’s.

Fredericks notes that Dennis Oland is wearing a brown dress jacket in the video and compares to photos of the jacket.
He says both jackets are of the same class, indistinguishable from each other but he can’t say for sure they are the same item.
Fredericks also looked at video of Dennis Oland taken from security cameras at the gas station on the Marr Road in Rothesay.
