It has been more than 60 years since J.D. Irving, Ltd. planted its first tree, and now the company has reached a major milestone.
James K. Irving was joined by sons Jim and Robert last week to plant the company’s one billionth tree.
JDI’s tree planting program started in 1957, when 3,000 trees were planted in the community of Black Brook, N.B., near Blackville.
The original goal was to produce one million trees, but 11 years later, the program had grown to over four million seedlings planted.
“We are not just growing trees, we’re growing opportunities for great people. ” – Mr. Jim (JD) Irving at today’s Billionth Tree planting ceremony. See more of his and his father’s, JK Irving’s, remarks here! #billionthtree #treeplanting #jdi #trees https://t.co/92zXYffrJ9
