Saint John police are warning about the toxicity of narcotics presumed to be circulating in the city.
This comes as officers and the province’s coroner investigate five sudden deaths throughout Saint John.
“Recent calls for service, along with information gathered, has led police to believe a potential spike in drug-related overdoses is currently occurring,” police said in a news release on Friday.
“Frontline officers have noticed a significant increase in overdose-related calls for service throughout this past week.”
Those struggling with addiction are warned that they may be more at risk of coming into contact with fatal and dangerous narcotics.
Anyone concerned about drugs being sold in their neighbourhood are encouraged to call the Saint John Police Force at 506-648-3333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
