Time to lace up your skates — Lily Lake in Saint John’s Rockwood Park is now open for public skating.
City officials said the recent cold snap we had allowed crews to plow snow and flood the ice surface.
“The ice is now thick enough to ensure safe skating and ice maintenance,” said a news release on Tuesday.
Users are urged to heed any warning signs as certain areas may not always be safe for skating.
Helmets are encouraged for all skaters and remember to skate only within the designated area.
“The city will continue to monitor ice conditions and may need to close the lake to skating if conditions change,” said the release.
Any changes will be communicated through on-site signage and the city’s social media channels.
