The mayor of Saint John is extending her condolences after the deaths of two boys in the city.
A 10-year-old and a 17-year-old were found dead in a home on Skaling Court in the north end on Wednesday morning.
“The loss of two young lives is heart-wrenching for everyone involved. My thoughts are with you, and I stand with our community in support,” Mayor Donna Noade Reardon said in a social media post.
“The Saint John community is united in offering comfort, strength, and love as we face this tragic event together.”
Police also located a 46-year-old man who was known to the boys with life-threatening injuries.
He is now facing two counts of first-degree murder in connection with their deaths.
Investigators are not saying how the accused knew the victims, how the two boys died or whether the man’s wounds were self-inflicted.
“We will not be releasing any information that would identify the victims in this investigation at this time,” Staff Sgt. Sarah Hobbs told reporters on Thursday, citing the ongoing investigation and court proceedings.
Anyone who may have information is asked to contact the Saint John Police Force at 506-648-3333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
