A fire-ravaged building on Union Street in Saint John is being torn down on Tuesday.
The vacant building attached to The Max Pub has been the site of two fires in recent weeks.
The most recent blaze on Christmas Day took firefighters several hours to bring under control.

Platoon Chief Craig Melvin told our newsroom that they managed to keep the fire from spreading to any other buildings,
Melvin noted the building was vacant with no power but there were likely squatters in and out of it.
Following the most recent fire, Mayor Donna Reardon announced on social media that the building would be demolished.
“Engineers have since raised concerns about the building’s structural integrity and the risk it poses to the neighbouring business,” Reardon said in her post.

Reardon said demolishing the building will allow the neighbouring business to reopen shortly afterward.
Union Street will be closed between Coburg Street and Sydney Street from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday to allow for the demolition.
