Dozens of new trees will soon be planted in Saint John’s Queen Square West.
It is thanks to a $10,000 grant the city recently received from Tree Canada and CN.
The “Blossom Buffet” project will see 43 fruit trees planted in the west side park.
“We are incredibly grateful to Tree Canada and CN for this generous grant,” Operations Manager Barb Crawford said in a news release.
“The ‘Blossom Buffet’ project is a ripe opportunity to enhance our urban spaces and work toward a sustainable future for Saint John.”
Officials said the planting marks an important milestone in the city’s broader urban forestry initiatives, which include the goal of planting 1,000 trees by 2032.
The planting of the trees in Queen Square West will take place over the coming weeks.
