Car enthusiasts will descend on Saint John this weekend for the Complex Union Roll Call car show.
The one-day event gives people the chance to talk about and show off their prized possessions.
At the same time, city police will be out in force conducting a special city-wide traffic campaign.
“The mission of this traffic initiative is to keep our city safe, given the significant increase in motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic,” police said in a news release on Wednesday.
In 2022, officers faced bottles and rocks when responding to a dangerous driving call. There was also a serious assault that took place in a parking garage.
Officers from Saint John police and the Department of Justice and Public Safety will enforce a “zero-tolerance policy” when it comes to offences, said police.
Residents and visitors can expect increased police presence and some traffic delays near the event site, as well as impaired driving checkpoints across the city.
“We appreciate the public’s patience as our members work to ensure all involved in the Roll Call car show, other visitors, and our residents enjoy our beautiful city safely and to the fullest this weekend,” Chief Robert Bruce said in the release.
The Roll Call car show will take place at TD Station from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
