A mid-afternoon power outage Friday left thousands of homes and businesses in Saint John without electricity.
Power went out shortly after 2 p.m. Friday to more than 14,000 customers in the west, east, north, and uptown areas of the city.
In a social media post, Saint John Energy said the outage was caused by a loss of supply from NB Power.
Crews quickly began switching customers and had power restored within a matter of minutes.
It was the second outage caused by NB Power transmission failures in as many days.
Around 3,400 customers in the north end and Millidgeville area lost power on Thursday morning.
“We will continue to advocate for improved service reliability from the monopoly provider,” Saint John Energy said on social media.
Meanwhile, more than 25,000 NB Power customers were also without electricity in the Fredericton region.
Most of the affected customers were in Fredericton, Oromocto, Hanwell, New Maryland, and Lincoln.
A majority of homes and businesses had their power restored by late afternoon. There is no word on a cause.
