Canada’s governor general will make her first official visit to New Brunswick next week.
Mary Simon will visit Fredericton, Caraquet, Sunny Corner, Moncton, and Pennfield Ridge.
The visit to New Brunswick will focus on reconciliation, digital respect, mental health, nature and the environment, military commemorations and youth, according to a media advisory.
Simon is scheduled to meet with provincial officials, including the lieutenant-governor, the premier, and Indigenous leaders.
She will also commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, as well as the 100th Royal Canadian Air Force Anniversary celebrations.
According to the advisory, the visit is part of a larger objective of visiting each province and territory to engage with Canadians from across the country in their communities and meeting with provincial and Indigenous leaders.
Simon is scheduled to be in New Brunswick from Tuesday through Friday.
