Campers are getting their gear ready for the upcoming season.
Opening weekend for Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park and Campground in Woodstock is May 31.
Maritime Fun Group recently purchased the campground. It is known for its amusement parks in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
President Matthew Jelley says only a few small changes are planned.
“The park has an excellent reputation and is very popular. We purchased the park because we like a lot of the aspects the way they are. We are completing some updates to the food area and freshening things up a little bit,” Jelley says.
“We’re going to take a look at the Visitor pass and the day pass policy and see if there are ways that we can help open it up to the community in some limited ways. We’re going to take a fresh look at a lot of things and see where we can continue to improve the park.”
Jelley says Maritime Fun Group’s background is primarily in amusement parks and attractions. Last year, they purchased KOA Cavendish in P.E.I. Yogi Bear Jellystone Park and Campground will be their second campground.
“My brother operates Magic Mountain in Moncton and he is part of the group that has purchased this property in Woodstock as well,” Jelley adds.
He says his family grew up camping and has seen how it can bring families together, not just for themselves, but with other families.
“That’s core to what we do as a family-operated business. Spreading our wings to Woodstock, I think is a good move for us. It’s family-oriented, and something our family has a history with and a natural extension of our other attractions. Ultimately it’s about providing safe, friendly and clean places for people to play,” Jelley says.
Maritime Fun Group owns and operates parks including Magic Mountain in Moncton and Shining Waters in Cavendish.
