Another Progressive Conservative MLA has announced he will not reoffer in the next election.
But Jeff Carr, who represents a riding near Fredericton, said he will continue to serve his constituents until then.
“I have truly enjoyed representing all of you but, like everything else, there comes a time when one must take a new path,” Carr wrote in a letter to his constituents.
“I didn’t begin this journey with a laundry list of policy changes, but with the goal of leaving our Constituency and Communities better than I found them.
“I truly believe that being loyal to your constituents and their needs is a top priority.”
Carr was first elected to represent New Maryland-Sunbury in 2014. He was re-elected in 2018 and again in 2022.
The three-term also served in cabinet, first as environment and local government minister, and then as transportation and infrastructure.
But Carr was one of two ministers to be shuffled out of cabinet last summer for supporting an opposition motion on the province’s school gender-identity policy, known as Policy 713.
