The Quispamsis qplex will be busy next week with the 2023 Para Hockey Cup in town.
Hockey Canada announced in April that the town would host this year’s event.
Canada, the United States, China and Czechia will play from December 3 to 5.
The four teams will play three preliminary-round games, with the gold medal game broadcasted on TSN.
“This is really the cream of the crop from an international para hockey perspective. We’re really excited about having the top four teams here to compete at the qplex,” said Aaron Kennedy, acting chief administrative officer for Quispamsis.
The town previously hosted the 2016 Men’s U18 National Club Championship, co-hosted the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge with Saint John, and hosted a 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship pre-tournament game between the United States and Finland.
“When you have any type of hockey event, whether it’s men’s, women’s, para, when you’re wearing a red maple leaf on your chest, there’s a tremendous amount of pride associated with that,” said Kennedy.
