New Brunswick’s outgoing chief medical officer of health has a new job.
Dr. Jennifer Russell is joining the University of New Brunswick this fall, the university announced Wednesday.
Russell will be the executive director leading a planned institute of population health.
A spokesperson for the university was unable to confirm details about the institute.
“We are happy to welcome Dr. Russell back to UNB,” president Dr. Paul Mazerolle said in a news release.
“Her experience and passions will be instrumental in guiding our work to advance population health initiatives in New Brunswick and beyond.”
Russell recently announced that she would be leaving her role with Public Health in December.
At the time, it was reported she was running for president-elect of the Canadian Medical Association.
“Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to help my patients and ensure the health and safety of citizens of our province,” Russell said in the release.
“The work of the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health has served New Brunswickers at a crucial time. Now, I look forward to joining the team at the University of New Brunswick and making a difference in the next chapter of my career.”
