It is time to recognize the importance of arts and culture in New Brunswick, say members of the sector.
The province’s arts and culture sector is calling on the New Brunswick government for a $25 million investment.
Julie Whitenect, executive director of ArtsLinkNB said previous investments are not matching the high inflation rates, especially since the pandemic.
Despite contributing $578 million to the province’s economy in 2021, other industries have found support through the provincial government.
“They’re receiving strategies, they’re receiving investments, they’re being looked at by the government as being economic drivers and culture needs to be on the same footing,” said Whitenect
The sector has recommended the funding for next year’s provincial budget that will contribute to the film industry, festivals and concerts, amongst other media.
