A young entrepreneur from Sussex has designed a clothing line dedicated to her small-town life.
Seventeen-year-old Emma Graham designed Small Town Roots Co. along with her mom, “We started with making T-shirts and hoodies and crewneck but now we’re trying to figure out if we want to start making more. So we’ve looked into making beanies and ballcaps we also started making stickers and keychains.”
The logo itself was something Graham came up with, along with her mom and a logo designer, “We were working with arrows at first but we didn’t like the look of it. So then he gave us the tree and he added a bunch of different roots, and that’s the one that we thought would work. The name and the logo represent because I was born and raised in a small town. My roots will always be here. It’s where my family is and I’ve grown up here with the same people my entire life. I’ve gone to school with the same people.”
She began advertising her clothing in mid-August, and it has been very popular, “Oh my goodness. It’s been crazy. We’ve had so many orders and lots of suggestions of colours and we’ve had lots of people reaching out, saying that they want to buy and sell my products,” Graham says.
Graham will be using the money she makes to help pay for university, but she would also like to choose a charity and donate funds to it as well.
